Salman Khan surrenders, gets bail

Bollywood actor Salman Khan Saturday surrendered before the Mumbai police after he rammed his car into a bakery in suburban Bandra killing one person and seriously injuring three others in their sleep. He was later granted bail.

Salman surrendered before the Bandra police at 11 AM (IST), eight hours after the incident.

The actor was taken to Bhabha hospital for a medical test to verify whether he was under the influence of alcohol while driving, reports said.

According to the police, the actor, who was driving the car, was along with his friend and a police bodyguard who lodged the complaint at the Bandra police station. The actor had run away from the spot after the incident at 2:50 AM (IST).

A case has been registered against the actor for rash driving and causing death by negligence under section 304 A of the IPC.
